Why are so many people moving to Vancouver Island?

Vancouver Island has long been a place where people visit to marvel at the incredible scenery and weather with visions of retiring here once their work years are behind them but is that now changing? It is !!!!

This whole pandemic has changed the way people think, what they want from life and what they are realizing they can do to make their life visions a reality NOW instead of waiting for retirement. One of the big reasons is that the dynamics of the workplace have been reshaped to make it much more possible and working remotely is one of those things. Metropolitan office space and office environments in general have been rethought over the last year by businesses large and small. One of the realizations that business has come to is that you don’t need to travel from Abbotsford to downtown Vancouver every day consuming 3 or 4 hours of your time as it is now evident that many can work from home and hopefully even be more productive. Once that realization hit, many people started reimagining  what they wanted from life and what the possibilities are, and the possibilities are as broad as your desires for the good life.

City life does have its perks especially if you want to be in the heart of the hustle and bustle. However, if you find your priorities are changing, you might want to consider moving to Vancouver Island.

Why? Spectacular scenery and easy access to beaches, clean air, 12 months of recreation, and small-town vibes are just a few of the reasons. Vancouver Island is home to some of Canada’s best places to live, according to a Maclean’s magazine’s survey published in the summer of 2019 although that was before this all happened.

Maclean’s researchers gathered data from 415 towns and cities across the country and compared them in the following categories: Wealth and economy, affordability, population growth, taxes, commute, crime, weather, access to health care, amenities and culture. Twelve communities profiled in the top 200 list are located on Vancouver Island.

So why Vancouver Island? How about:

* World-class scenery *Year-round outdoor recreation *Lifestyle *Less Traffic *Affordability *Milder climate *Vibrant Culture, *Wineries * 40 golf top notch golf courses (8 in the top 100 for Canada) and welcoming communities. Oh and great skiing!!!

Affordability has been huge for some of our clients who can sell their home in a large centre, buy a nicer home here and be left with a nest egg for earlier retirement, investing and a much less stressful life. The change in the workplace has now allowed for people in condos to move to a house with a nice home office, home gym and start enjoying Island Life!!! So, what is holding you back?

I am always available to help make your dreams and transition to Island Life a reality. I am easy to talk to and never any pressure but guess that is part of Island Life.
