Consequences or Lack There Of
“If you build the guts to do something, anything, then you better save enough to face the consequences.”
― Criss Jami, Killosophy
I’m reasonably sure that I’m going to get some flak over this but, my opinion is that today there are just no consequences for bad behaviour, doing things to other people or property, and there are so many who just disrespect life itself. What the heck is going on in the world today, why are people doing what they do or better yet why are people not doing what they should be doing as good law-abiding respectable citizens. Maybe a better question is what is the end goal here? In my opinion, what is going on is not about what it is being portrayed to be about.
Don’t get me wrong here, I know some wonderful people who would do anything for anybody with no ulterior motive, only because they’re really great people, they are honest, trustworthy, law-abiding people who just want to make a difference in the world and that is the reason that I hold them close as friends. As well I am incredibly blessed to have so many clients that have become friends that I’ve done business with over the years because they have the same values and for that I am most fortunate. What I’m talking about is everything you see on the news today and quite frankly I am trying my darndest to not watch the news. I had a friend ask me something the other day when we were out for dinner and he couldn’t believe that I thought so much of the news today was fake news and then I ended up saying, quite frankly I don’t really watch the news anymore or at least not very much. There’s so much hatred on the news and people slinging mud at each other and you know the old saying “if you want to get down in the mud with the pigs, you’re going to get dirty”. One of the big things I’ve noticed lately is how I feel when I watch this stuff or witness the mudslinging on social media and it doesn’t make me feel very good and I feel like I’m down in the same trough because it makes me feel angry and I want to respond which I have and shouldn’t have in the past, but it does get a response from you sometimes unfortunately. A lot of it just doesn’t put you in a very positive frame of mind.
I was absolutely floored the other day when I did watch the news and found out how many people have been attacking Dr. Bonnie Henry. In my opinion she is a wonderful woman who tells it from her heart, whom I think is a genuinely concerned compassionate person who wants the best for everybody without any political or personal motive. But I hear that people are threatening her and her family. My experience has been that the people who do things like this don’t have the intestinal fortitude to do it in person and they instead resort to social media or emails, and I find that revolting.
Anyways, glad I got that off my chest I feel much better 😳
As Rodney King said so many years ago, “why can’t we all just get along”. I enjoy having conversations with people who have different opinions who I can discuss things with without them getting upset or wanting to have an argument about it because I view many things or other peoples opinions differently, and I have many of my own opinions and I don’t expect people to have the same opinion as me but I do think people should respect others opinions. Maybe we end up learning a bit from each other, wouldn’t that be wonderful!!
Let’s stop tearing down cities, destroying properties and attacking police. It doesn’t matter the color of your skin, where you were born, if your rich or poor. What does matter, and will matter today and in the future if we all want a good place for our kids, grandkids and their grandkids to grow up in, will be that we learn from each other, respect each other, stop attacking each other and just learn to get along. Please!!!
Hope you all have an AWESOME weekend!!!
